Mendel Cabernet Franc 2024 Producer: Mendel Wines Region: Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina Grape Variety: 100% Cabernet Franc Alcohol: 14.5% ABV About the Producer Mendel Winery is a partnership between renowned Argentine winemaker Roberto de la Mota and an established Argentine family. The winery focuses on expressing the character of Mendoza's high-altitude vineyards, particularly in the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo. The fruit for this Cabernet Franc comes from Finca Remota in Paraje Altamira, one of Argentina's most highly regarded high-altitude wine-growing areas. The vineyards benefit from a long growing season, helping the grapes achieve full ripeness while retaining freshness and aromatic complexity. Winemaking Hand-selected grapes. Fermentation and maceration in small tanks. Approximately 25 days total maceration. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, divided between new, second-use and third-use barrels. Light clarification and no filtration. Tasting Notes Appearance Intense ruby-red colour. Nose Fresh and expressive with aromas of raspberries, cherries and blackcurrants. Distinctive Cabernet Franc notes of paprika, bay leaf, olives and gentle smokiness. Subtle cedar, pencil shavings and oak spice. Palate Medium to full-bodied with juicy fruit and polished structure. Flavours of red cherries, raspberries, cassis and dark berry fruit. Hints of pink pepper, black pepper and savoury herbs add complexity. Silky texture supported by ripe, firm tannins. Finish Long and elegant with lingering dark fruit, spice and mineral freshness. Fine-grained tannins provide structure without overwhelming the fruit.
