2022 Poppies Pinot Gris
Poppies is a New Zealand brand focusing on accessible, well-made wines from Marlborough. This Pinot Gris is sourced from vineyards in the region known primarily for Sauvignon Blanc, but the cooler sites also produce good Pinot Gris with freshness and purity. Fermented in stainless steel to preserve fruit character. The 2022 vintage has had time to settle and develop slightly. Pear, apple and stone fruit with subtle spice and honeyed notes starting to emerge. Medium bodied with moderate acidity and a smooth, rounded texture. The fruit has softened with age, becoming more mellow and integrated than sharp and vibrant. Off-dry with gentle residual sweetness. Easy-drinking and approachable. Serve chilled (8-10°C). Pairs well with Asian cuisine, grilled chicken, mild curries, or works as a crowd-pleasing aperitif. Drinking at its best now, enjoy within the year while it`s still fresh enough to be enjoyable.
