2022 Louis Cheze Caroline Saint-Joseph
Louis Chèze is one of the northern Rhône`s most respected producers, farming steep granite slopes in both Condrieu and Saint-Joseph. Caroline is his signature Saint-Joseph cuvee, named after his daughter, showcasing pure Syrah from specific parcels with ideal exposure. The granite soils bring mineral tension and elegance to the wine. The 2022 vintage delivers ripe fruit with excellent structure and balance. Blackberry, dark cherry and cassis with violet, black pepper and graphite. Medium to full bodied with firm tannins and bright acidity. There`s concentration and depth here with classic northern Rhône character. Elegant and precise rather than powerful, showing mineral backbone from the granite terroir. Layers of dark fruit, spice and earthy complexity. Long, refined finish. Decant for 45-60 minutes if drinking now. Pairs excellently with duck, game, grilled lamb, or hard cheeses. Serve around 16-18°C. Drinking well now but built to age gracefully over 10-12 years.
