Known as the Empire of Garnacha, Campo de Borja offers ideal conditions for cultivating world-class old-vine Garnacha. Sourced from dry-farmed, low-yielding bush vines planted over fifty years ago on the rugged slopes of the Moncayo mountain range, this flagship bottling showcases extraordinary fruit purity, complex spice, and the expressive terroir of Campo de Borja.. Why You'll Love It. This wine stands out for its plush mouthfeel, profound fruit depth, and elegant oak integration. Grown at high altitudes where extreme diurnal temperature shifts slow grape ripening, the ancient vines produce intensely concentrated berries balanced by natural acidity. Aged in French and American oak barrels, it delivers a luxurious profile of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, roasted coffee, and sweet oak spice, offering remarkable value and immediate drinking pleasure.. Vineyard & Production. The grapes are hand-harvested from selected old-vine parcels situated between 500 and 700 metres above sea level in stony, iron-rich clay soils. Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit undergoes cold maceration before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maceration extends over several weeks to extract rich color and supple tannins. The wine then matures for eight months in a combination of French and American oak barrels to enhance textural richness and aromatic complexity prior to bottling.. Tasting Notes. In the glass, it presents an intense, deep cherry-red colour with vibrant purple hues. The nose is rich and complex, displaying vibrant aromas of ripe blackberries, red plum jam, and black cherries, seamlessly integrated with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, toasted cedar, and a subtle mineral lift. On the palate, it is full-bodied, smooth, and voluptuous, offering luscious red and dark berry flavours supported by velvety tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, warming finish.. Perfect Pairings. With its generous fruit character and rich structure, this Spanish Garnacha is an exceptional companion for hearty cuisine. It pairs magnificently with slow-roasted lamb, grilled ribeye steak, pork tenderloin with plum sauce, and rich game casseroles.
