Alpha Zeta A Amarone 2022 75cl
Alpha Zeta A Amarone is a rich, intensely concentrated, and velvety red wine produced in the legendary Valpolicella region of Veneto, Italy. Alpha Zeta is celebrated for collaborating with top-tier local growers to craft modern, expressive wines that honour traditional Italian winemaking methods. Sourced from hillside vineyards in the Valpolicella Valpantena, this magnificent Amarone is crafted using the ancient appassimento technique, where hand-harvested grapes are dried for months to concentrate sugars, flavours, and structural depth before fermentation.. Why You'll Love It. This wine stands out for its monumental richness, luxurious texture, and captivating aromatic depth. Grown in chalky limestone soils that impart a fine mineral balance to the powerful fruit, the grapes develop extraordinary concentration during the drying process. Matured patiently in large oak casks and barriques, it delivers a decadent profile of dried figs, black cherries, sweet tobacco, and dark chocolate, offering both immediate warmth and incredible aging potential.. Vineyard & Production. The grapes are hand-harvested from select hillside parcels during the cool autumn weeks. Following harvest, the bunches are carefully laid out on bamboo racks in drying lofts, where they lose a significant portion of their water weight over several months to concentrate the juice. In late winter, the dried grapes are gently crushed and fermented slowly in temperature-controlled vats with prolonged skin contact. The wine is then aged in a combination of large Slavonian oak casks and French oak barrels for over two years to acquire spice and polish before bottling.. Tasting Notes. In the glass, it reveals a deep, impenetrable ruby-red colour with dark garnet edges. The nose is bold, complex, and deeply expressive, opening with rich aromas of dried plums, black cherry jam, and raisins, interwoven with sophisticated notes of sweet cocoa, dark roasted coffee beans, cinnamon, and subtle leather. On the palate, it is full-bodied, unctuous, and wonderfully harmonious, delivering opulent dark fruit flavours supported by a velvety tannin structure and a warming, balanced alcohol frame that extends into a long, memorable finish.. Perfect Pairings. With its profound richness, velvety tannins, and complex dried fruit profile, this Veneto Amarone is an extraordinary centrepiece for fine dining. It pairs magnificently with slow-braised beef cheeks, wild boar ragù, roasted venison, and rich osso buco. It is also an exceptional partner for mature hard cheeses such as Parmigiano-Reggiano, aged Pecorino, and artisanal blue cheeses.. Grape Varieties. Corvina, Rondinella, Corvinone
