Bodega Garzon Reserve Tannat 2023 75cl
Bodega Garzón Reserve Tannat is a full-bodied and elegant wine showing an intense deep purple colour, with aromas of black plum, juicy blackberry and a hint of spice. The palate is structured and rich, with ripe tannins, balanced acidity and a lingering freshness, reflecting the unique terroir of Uruguay's Atlantic coast.. Why You'll Love It. This is Uruguayan Tannat at its finest—full-bodied, elegant, and beautifully structured. Bodega Garzón is a family-owned estate in Maldonado, southern Uruguay, recognised as a pioneer of premium Uruguayan wines. Led by owner Alejandro Bulgheroni and consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini, the winery combines sustainable practices, modern gravity-flow design and meticulous vineyard management across 1,150 small plots, producing pure, terroir-driven wines. Bodega Garzón has earned multiple international awards, including Wine Enthusiast's 'New World Winery of the Year' and LEED certification for its sustainable facilities.. Vineyard & Production. The grapes come from hillside blocks just 11 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, with granitic, well-draining soils and cooling ocean breezes. The estate's mosaic of microclimates, elevations and soil types ensures steady ripening. Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted, with canopy management and minimal intervention in the vineyard promoting concentration and freshness. After a five-day maceration on skins, fermentation occurs in large 150-hectolitre cement tanks at 26–28°C, with gentle pump-overs twice daily. The wine is aged 6–12 months on lees in 50-hectolitre, untoasted French oak casks to enhance texture and complexity, before bottling.. Tasting Notes. This elegant Tannat displays a deep purple colour. The nose reveals expressive aromas of black plum, juicy blackberry and subtle spice. The palate is full-bodied, elegant and structured, showing ripe tannins, balanced acidity and a long, refined finish with lingering freshness.. Perfect Pairings. A versatile food wine, perfect with grilled meats, slow-roasted lamb, hearty winter stews, or aged cheeses. Also excellent with barbecued meats and Uruguayan cuisine.. The Blend. 100% Tannat
