North Star Obscurities & Curiosities Lindores Abbey 6 Year Old is a punchy, character‑driven single malt that shows just how much personality a young whisky can have when bottled at full strength. Distilled at the revived Lindores Abbey distillery and matured for six years before being selected by North Star, it comes alive at 60%, carrying a mix of bright orchard fruit, creamy sweetness and lively spice that feels both youthful and surprisingly composed.. It opens with a burst of baked apples, pear drops and vanilla fudge, wrapped in a gentle malty warmth. There’s a clean, almost herbal freshness underneath, the kind of note that hints at new‑make vibrancy but in a way that adds energy rather than roughness. As it settles, richer tones appear: honeycomb, toasted barley, a touch of lemon oil and a soft biscuity depth from the cask.. On the palate the high strength makes itself known immediately, but once the heat eases it reveals layers of sweet malt, stewed apples, creamy toffee and a lively peppery kick. There’s a pleasant waxy texture that gives the whisky weight, along with flashes of citrus and spice that keep it bright and engaging. A little water opens it up further, bringing out softer vanilla, pastry notes and a rounded fruitiness.. The finish is warm and persistent, with lingering malt sweetness, gentle oak spice and a final lift of citrus.
