Quinta de Couselo Turonia Rosal is a historic, highly refined white wine from the famed O Rosal subzone of Rías Baixas in Galicia, Spain. Rooted in a century-long legacy closely linked to the nearby Cistercian monastery of Santa María de Oia, Quinta de Couselo is recognized as an early quality pioneer of the region. Blending Albariño with traditional native varieties Loureira and Caíño Blanco, this estate-grown white delivers a deeply aromatic, complex, and Atlantic-driven expression of Galician terroir.. Why You'll Love It. This is an extraordinarily layered Spanish white wine that offers far more complexity than a single-varietal Albariño. Sourced from granite and shale soils near the Atlantic Ocean, it combines vibrant stone fruit and exotic floral aromatics with a luxurious, six-month fine lees aging process. Free from oak influence, it presents a masterclass in balance, seamlessly harmonising a creamy, broad mouthfeel with mouth-watering coastal salinity and crisp, mineral energy.. Vineyard & Production. The grapes are hand-harvested in small 15kg crates from estate vineyards and meticulously managed plots planted on granite and shale soils. To protect fruit purity, the harvested grapes are transported in cold-storage units at 5°C before undergoing a strict bunch-by-bunch selection on vibrating sorting tables. After destemming and a brief cold skin maceration, the fruit is gently pressed. Following temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats, the wine matures on its fine lees for six months, acquiring textural depth and subtle complexity prior to clarification and bottling.. Tasting Notes. Glinting an intense lemon yellow with greenish highlights, this wine opens with a highly complex bouquet of orange blossom, jasmine, lychee, and Williams pear, interwoven with lemongrass, subtle lemon cream, fresh thyme, and bay leaf. On the palate, it enters with broad volume and energy, offering a creamy, textured mouthfeel packed with fresh orchard fruit and citrus. A crisp line of acidity and a distinct mineral, salty edge carry through to an exceptionally long, elegant finish.. Perfect Pairings. With its vibrant coastal salinity and rich texture, this Galician white is a spectacular partner for ocean fare. It pairs magnificently with fresh oysters, steamed mussels, grilled octopus, razor clams, and seared scallops. It is also an outstanding match for light fish dishes, sea bass ceviche, summer salads with citrus dressing, and fresh goat's or sheep's milk cheeses..
