Bruce Grobbelaar Liverpool T-Shirt | Players Couture Bruce Grobbelaar made over 600 appearances for Liverpool between 1981 and 1994, winning six First Division titles, three FA Cups and two European Cups during one of the most successful periods in the club's history. The Zimbabwe international was unconventional in every sense — his style could raise nerves as easily as it raised eyebrows — but his record and his longevity at Anfield tell a story of a goalkeeper who was exceptional where it counted. Grobbelaar's most celebrated moment came in the 1984 European Cup final in Rome, when his deliberate wobbling of his legs during the penalty shootout against Roma unsettled the Italian side's spot-kick takers and helped Liverpool claim the trophy. It was the kind of moment that only a particular type of character could produce — spontaneous, brave and entirely in keeping with a personality that the Kop adored throughout his career.
