Steam & Oak Saaren 330 Barrel Sauna — 4–6 Person, Changing Room & Terrace - Thermowood / Wood-fired — Harvia M series
This is where a barrel sauna stops being a hot box and starts being a small building. The Saaren 330 is divided into two rooms with a glass door between them: a proper hot room at the far end, and a changing room in front of it. Add the covered terrace at the entrance and you have three distinct spaces in 3.3 metres. The difference that makes is practical rather than luxurious. Somewhere to leave clothes and towels that is not the hot room. Somewhere to sit and cool down that is not the lawn. A door between the heat and everything else, so the hot room stays hot when someone comes and goes. Anyone who has used a single-room barrel in a British February will know exactly why that matters. Spruce or thermowood — your choice Nordic spruce is the traditional barrel timber: pale, clean-grained, and the reason a new barrel sauna looks the way it does. It is the more affordable build, and it needs treating and re-treating to stay looking new outdoors. Thermowood is timber kiln-treated at 180–220°C in a low-oxygen chamber. That is not a surface coating. It changes the wood itself, closing the cells so it absorbs far less moisture — which is what stops outdoor timber cupping, twisting and splitting through a British winter. No chemical preservatives are involved. It arrives a deep honey-brown and weathers to a stable silver. Choose your timber above. The benches follow the shell: alder with spruce, thermo-aspen with thermowood. Specification Capacity 4–6 people Layout Hot room + changing room + covered terrace Total length 3300 mm External diameter 2050 mm Total height 2150 mm Interior 1700 mm hot room + 870 mm changing room + 570 mm terrace Heated volume approx. 9.9 m³ Staves / side walls 42 mm Front and back walls 28 mm Entrance door Lockable wooden door with glass, 1650 × 590 mm Internal door Glass door between hot room and changing room Windows 4 × 670 × 300 mm — two in the front wall, two in the back Benches Alder (spruce build) or thermo-aspen (thermowood build) Roof Bitumen shingles — black, red, green or brown Delivery 1 pallet, 330 × 120 × 120 cm What is in the box Everything structural, including both interior doors and the terrace. No hidden extras to buy before you can build it: Barrel staves and end walls in your chosen timber Glass door between the two rooms Terrace with its own benches and floor Sauna benches Lockable wooden entrance door with glass Four windows — two front, two back Floor Bitumen roof shingles and fascia boards Foundation cradles Heater guard Stainless steel barrel bands and complete fixing kit Ventilation grids Step-by-step assembly instructions Run it on gas — no electrician, no cable across the garden This is the option almost nobody else offers, and for a lot of gardens it is the one that makes a sauna possible at all. A FinSteam gas heater runs on a standard propane bottle — the same sort you would use for a patio heater or a barbecue. No armoured cable, no trench across the lawn, no electrician quote you had not budgeted for. If your garden has no power at the far end, this is how you still get a sauna there. Pick a gas option above and we fit the flue and commission the heater on installation day. You do not need to arrange anything with anyone. Which gas option? Botnia 81 Our standard 8.1 kW gas heater. Everything you need to run the sauna. Aurora 81 The premium version of the same 8.1 kW heater — better finish and detailing. And then: safety pack, or without? With safety packrecommended Adds the Njord heat shield and the Halo guard rail. The heat shield lets the heater sit closer to the timber wall; the guard rail stops anyone brushing against the hot stones. If you have children, guests, or you are renting the sauna out, choose this one. Without safety pack Heater and stone cage only. Suits a private install where clearance is not tight. Every gas option includes the heater, the Orbis stone cage, and our fitting and commissioning. See the full gas heater range → Or go wood-fired — the traditional barrel There is a reason barrel saunas have chimneys. A wood stove gives you the crackle, the smell and the slow build that no electric element reproduces, and it needs no power at all. In a two-room barrel it also means the changing room stays comfortable rather than cold, because the flue runs through it. Our Harvia M series wood-burning set comes complete with the chimney and stones included — nothing else to source. Our fitters install it and check the flue on the day. Or choose an electric heater The simplest option if you already have power at the sauna. Our Harvia Wall is black steel with a full 20 kg stone capacity for softer, steadier löyly, integrated controls and a 2-year warranty. Harvia Wall 8 kW Rated 7–12 m³ — the sensible default for a 9.9 m³ hot room. Harvia Wall 6 kW Rated 5–8 m³. Under-specified for this barrel; choose it only if the sauna is very sheltered and you do not mind a longer warm-up. No heater — cabin only Supply-only. Choose this if you already have
