Old paint, flaking clear coat, and cracked varnish have to come off first, and a heat gun does it without gouging the surface the way a scraper alone does and without the mess and fumes of chemical stripper. Set the dial, soften the old finish, lift it away in sheets. Then prime and spray onto clean substrate. The HYCHIKA 1800W reaches working temperature in about 1.5 seconds and holds any setting between 140°F and 1112°F, so the same tool that strips a steel fender at high heat can soften vinyl decals or warm a panel for adhesive work at low heat.
