2017 Chateau Boyd Cantenac Jacques Boyd
Jacques Boyd is the second wine of Chateau Boyd-Cantenac, a Troisième Cru Classe in Margaux. This typically comes from younger vines and parcels that don`t make the final blend for the Grand Vin, but it`s made with the same attention to detail and winemaking. The result is more approachable Margaux elegance for earlier drinking. The 2017 vintage in Bordeaux delivered charming, elegant wines. Blackcurrant, red cherry and violet with cedar and subtle herbs. Medium bodied with soft, supple tannins and bright acidity. There`s Margaux elegance here with silky texture and floral notes, just less concentration than the Grand Vin. Approachable and drinking well now with gentle complexity. Clean, satisfying finish. Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). Brief decanting (30 minutes) helps it open up. Pairs well with roast chicken, duck confit, mushroom dishes, or medium-aged cheeses. Drinking beautifully now, will hold 5-8 years.
