Wire Works Whisky Necessary Evil Finish 2025 Release is a limited-edition dual maturation of White Peak Distillery's lightly peated single malt.Initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels, the whisky is then finished in casks that previously held Necessary Evil - a bold imperial stout brewed just up the road by the exceptional Thornbridge Brewery. 2025’s edition is a true Derbyshire collaboration, layering local provenance andcharacter. The finishing casks began life with Wire Works whisky in them, before going on to mature Necessary Evil stout. Limited run of just 2457 bottles. Masters medal at the World Whisky Masters 2025, the competition’s highest honour. TASTING NOTES Overview Sweet & savoury, with hazelnuts, freshly roasted coffee and dark chocolate, dates, cranberry, and a gentle wisp of smoke Nose Vanilla fudge, milk chocolate digestive biscuits, freshly roasted coffee, hazelnuts, flaked almonds, crème brûlée, baked apple pie, cassia, marzipan, sage, strawberry laces Palate Cacao nibs, Black Forest gateaux, cracked black peppercorns, salted caramel, marmite on toast, butter pastry, Medjool dates, Seville orange marmalade, hint of spearmint, fresh espresso, soft white candy Finish Rich dark chocolate, tobacco, murray mints, dark cherries, roasted malt, touch of smoke White Peak, a Derbyshire distillery established in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan, crafts English whisky, rum, and gin. Situated at a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a former wire works near River Derwent: thus the Wire Works brand. Their on-site process, from mashing malt to slow fermentation, influenced by local yeast, creates a unique flavour profile.
