Calusari Reserva Merlot–Cabernet Franc (Cramele Recaș) is a richer, more structured version of the standard Calusari red blends, with deeper fruit, more oak influence, and added complexity from Fetească Neagră. Tasting Notes A bold, smooth Romanian red showing oak, vanilla, clove, layered with blackberry, plum, cassis, touches of cherry and raspberry, and a warm cinnamon‑spiced finish. Full Aromatic & Palate Description Aroma Oak & vanilla — prominent oaky character with vanilla and clove. Black fruit — blueberry, plum, cassis. Red fruit — cherry and raspberry adding freshness. Spice — cinnamon and warm baking spice. Palate Smooth, rounded tannins with a fuller body than the standard Calusari range. Dark fruit core from Merlot and Fetească Neagră (blackcurrant, dried prunes, smoke). Herbal lift from Cabernet Franc (green pepper, dried herbs). Oak spice carries through to the finish (vanilla, clove). Finish Warm, spicy, and persistent, with velvety tannins from Fetească Neagră. Blend Composition & Why It Tastes This Way Merlot — softness, plum, cherry, chocolate/mocha. Cabernet Franc — structure, acidity, herbal spice. Fetească Neagră — blackcurrant, dried prunes, liquorice, smoke, velvety tannins.
