Sonoma is a valley next to Napa where this beautiful wine is made and what a gem. Tasting Notes This old vine Zinfandel immediately opens up with black raspberry and clove spice aromas on the nose. A full-bodied wine with layers of brambly fruit flavours, leather, spiced mocha and toasted coconut. The tannins are velvety and well-integrated, giving the wine a plush and soft mouthfeel. This is a bright and fruit-forward wine with good acidity that leads to a long lasting and flavourful finish. Additional Info The majority of the grapes come from the sun-drenched Lodi region as well as Madera County, Clarksburg, and Dry Creek Valley Sonoma. Lodi fruit brings bright, warm weather character while the slightly cooler Clarksburg region brings the structure as well as the enticing briar patch characteristics. The 2019 vintage is a blend of 76% Zinfandel, 12.2% Petite Sirah, 5.6% Merlot, and 4.2% Mixed Red. The final blend uses different varietals to craft a delicious, easy-to-drink Zinfandel for everyday enjoyment. Cheers! Food Matching This wine is great with anything grilled – steak, ribs, and even Portobello mushrooms! The ultimate pairing would be a Portobello mushroom burger topped with a red pepper relish with a side of sweet potato fries. Or even better, pair with pork tamales or Korean BBQ tacos.
