Chateau Boyd-Cantenac is a Troisième Cru Classe in Margaux, classified in 1855 and farming some of the appellation`s finest gravelly soils. The estate has been owned by the Guillemet family since 1932, producing wines that balance Margaux elegance with structure and aging potential. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, aged in French oak. The 2017 vintage in Bordeaux delivered approachable, elegant wines with charm. Blackcurrant, dark cherry and violet with cedar, graphite and floral notes. Medium to full bodied with fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. There`s the classic Margaux perfume and elegance here: silky texture with restraint rather than power. The fruit has developed some complexity with tobacco and earthy undertones emerging. Well-integrated oak adds structure. Long, refined finish. Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). Decant for 60 minutes to let it breathe fully. Pairs excellently with rack of lamb, duck, game birds, or aged hard cheeses. Drinking beautifully now but will continue to develop over 10-15 years.
