2018 Valdaya El Valiente Ribera del Duero
Valdaya is a small producer in Ribera del Duero focusing on quality fruit from the region`s high-altitude vineyards. El Valiente (The Brave) is their Tempranillo expression, aged in oak before release. The 2018 vintage has spent time developing in bottle, moving beyond primary fruit into more evolved territory with leather, tobacco and earthy notes emerging. Dark cherry and plum with leather, tobacco and dried herbs. Medium to full bodied with soft, rounded tannins smoothed by age. The fruit has evolved into something more savoury and tertiary, showing earthy complexity typical of mature Ribera. There`s still structure underneath but it`s integrated and harmonious. Long finish with spice and mineral notes. Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). No decanting needed at this stage. Pairs well with roast lamb, aged Manchego, grilled steaks, or mushroom dishes. Drinking at its peak now, enjoy over the next 3-5 years
