Barolo DOCG 'Gabutti' 2011 - Sordo | Wines N Vines (1x75cl)
Barolo DOCG "Gabutti" 2011, Why We Love It and Why You'll Too Barolo holds its legendary status for a reason. It is the King of Wines and the Wine of Kings, a title earned through centuries of excellence. At a recent tasting, six of us gathered with Paola, the fourth generation of the Sordo family. We explored the Ravera, Parussi, Perno, Monprivato, and Gabutti crus. Each wine revealed its unique personality, making it impossible to agree on a favorite. Barolo DOCG Gabutti 2011 stood out for its complexity and elegance. Still, one fact was clear: Sordo produces outstanding Barolo. Barolo Piedmonts Iconic Wine Piedmonts most famous red, comes from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. It is known for its "tar and roses" aroma, bright ruby color that fades to garnet, firm tannins, and vibrant acidity. To be labeled Barolo DOCG, the wine must age for at least 38 months, including 18 in oak barrels. The Riserva version requires 62 months of aging. Over time, Barolo develops earthy complexity, truffle notes, and dark chocolate hints. Its longevity and evolving depth make it one of the worlds most sought-after wines. SORDO | A Legacy of Excellence For four generations, the Sordo family has crafted Barolo in the heart of Piedmont. Each generation refined the techniques passed down by their ancestors, preserving tradition while embracing innovation. With deep respect for the land and a commitment to sustainability, Sordo allows the terroir to shape every bottle. Their meticulous vineyard management ensures that each vintage reflects the character of the soil, climate, and Nebbiolo grape. "Our aim is to protect our Mother Earth," they say. This philosophy drives their approach, blending nature, history, and precision winemaking. Their wines honour both tradition and modern excellence, ensuring that every sip tells the story of Barolo.
