We love Falanghina "Vigna del Monaco" for its fresh floral aromas, hints of ripe fruit, and that signature almond note at the end. Its not just a wine, its a whole landscape in a glass. Ocone Nestled in the unspoiled heart of the Taburno, Ocone winery grows its vineyards with a deep respect for nature and innovation. The estate stretches across a unique area framed by the Taburno massif, the Matese mountains, and the easternmost ridge of the Apennines. Soils are mostly alluvial, rich in stones and minerals. White grapes like Falanghina thrive in the clay-rich parcels, while red grapes like Aglianico grow on limestone-rich soils. Today, the winery is driven by a team of young professionals with a shared goal: combining innovation and quality while preserving the legacy of their land. Since October 2019, Ocone has taken bold steps towards sustainability. Water use is carefully managed, biological treatment systems are in place, and renewable energy powers the winery. From materials to architectural choices, every detail is designed with the planet in mind. The result? Wines that reflect both the roots of tradition and the spirit of modernity. Falanghina Falanghina is an ancient white grape thought to descend from Greek-Balkan origins. Its name comes from falanga, the traditional stake used to support the vine. Once nearly abandoned, Falanghina survived the phylloxera epidemic and eventually experienced a true renaissance. Today, it is widely grown across Southern Italy and recognised for its quality. This grape produces fresh, expressive wines with bright white fruit aromas, often enriched by subtle, bready notes from lees ageing. Styles range from crisp, easy-drinking versions to more complex, mineral-driven wines with impressive ageing potential. With time, Falanghina can even develop petrol-like notes, similar to aged Riesling.
