"The canon of Silvaner. A wine that has its own forcefield, its own electric current. Fragmented flavours vibrating at the speed of light, spinning into a blur of a whole. It’s pomelo and citron, green apple and mizuna and shiso. It’s shiveringly fresh and has so much minty bite that it’s like a cup of fresh peppermint tea followed by fresh-leaf- spearmint sorbet. Extraordinary minty intensity! The wine is a shock of cold green carrying a core of tomorrow’s honey and gold. You could drink a bottle every year from now for 10 years and I would put money on the fact that every bottle will be thrilling, and different."Tasted by Tamlyn Currin, wine writer for Jancis Robinson 17.5/20 A lasting Silvaner with powerful extract, its aroma is multi-layered:. It has flavours of wild herbs, subtle fruity notes of pear and apple together. Its enormous density and length give this wine a complex structure. The Iphöfer Kronsberg is one of the top Franconian vineyards. It is south facing, yet cooler due to the air currents from the eastern forests. The Kronsberg wines are characterised by fine fruit flavours, harmony and elegance. The vineyard has soil rich in Keuper - a sedimentary rocks interspersed with gypsum. The Keuper gives this wine its power and full body, like the opulent marshy landscape in which the rick was formed. The older the vines, the better this co-called "terroir" can be tasted: subtle fruity notes, a spicy, herbal aroma and a strong, mineralic flavour that lingers. Food recommendation: The perfect companion to vegetables stew or casseroles, as well as chicken, veal or light fish dishes.
