Donatella Cinelli Colombini Donatella Cinelli Colombini is the visionary behind Casato Prime Donne, the first Italian winery entirely staffed by women. Known internationally for producing high-quality Brunello wines, the estate consists of Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino and Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda. Both are surrounded by pristine, organically cultivated nature, offering visitors a chance to experience Tuscanys rich history. Donatella, who left her familys estate, started her own project with vineyards and farmhouses in need of care. She received Brunello wine but lacked a cellar master to manage it. When she asked the Enology school in Siena for a female cellar master, they offered several candidatesno winery had employed them. Recognising the opportunity to challenge gender discrimination, Donatella proved that crafting fine wines depends on passion and talent, not physical strength. Orcia DOC, Foglia Tonda Orcia DOC is a hidden gem in Tuscany, located in the southeast of this iconic Italian region. Introduced in 2000, it is one of the newest DOCs in the area, though it carries the potential to rival the prestige of Chianti. Foglia Tonda, an Italian red grape variety, has a fascinating history of being twice forgotten and twice rediscovered. Its name, meaning "round leaf," reflects its unique appearance. However, its the grapes deep pigmentation and ability to enhance Sangiovese blends that make it highly prized. With fewer than 20 hectares cultivated today, this rare grape is being championed by winemakers like Donatella Cinelli Colombini.
