Still employees involved directly with these chemicals can face increased risk. That being said their employers are responsible for protecting employees from these hazards and they should take a standardized approach for this purpose. Thankfully the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) enacted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration fulfills this requirement.Through this course the developers have explained OSHA's nine categories of chemical hazards. They have also discussed the routes through which chemicals can enter the body the significant changes in the present HCS and their implications. The course also contains charts and tables explaining the categories of flammable gases. Moreover the hierarchy of controlling chemical exposures has been illustrated and explained. A separate topic is also on the Safety Data Sheets (SDS).The course's second module discusses the role of the United Nations Globally Harmonized System (UNGHS) and measures to ensure compliance. It also covers detailed topics on OSHA Hazard Determination and performing a job hazard analysis. The course also contains a simulation exercise for students to apply the knowledge they have gained through this course practically. This course has also added a case study as a separate resource. Overall the developers believe this course would be an excellent resource for Alison students pursuing careers in chemical safety.
