Georgian for Beginners
Georgian is the official language of the country of Georgia located between Eastern Europe and Western Asia. This course will explore the thirty-three letters of the Georgian alphabet and lets you hear their proper pronunciations. You will learn the words used for greetings self-introductions and how to communicate with polite manners with terms such as 'please' 'excuse me' and 'I'm sorry'. You will also learn how to count in Georgian and identify colours food and animals before studying verbs and pronouns commonly used in simple sentences.We will then focus on the verbs 'to be' and 'to live' emphasizing their different forms. Georgian is an interesting language with noun declensions and syncopating declensions that we will discuss and apply when constructing sentences. You will also learn new vocabulary for stating the time and date discussing the family unit identifying various body parts and describing people’s personalities.In the last section you will discover new words and build simple sentences for giving directions identifying and purchasing items at a supermarket and discussing activities carried out in different rooms of the house such as cooking sleeping etc. As with any language the key to mastery is practice and each lesson begins with a review of the previous section to reinforce and build upon what you learned.
