WHITE WINE's latest album, Killer Brilliance, is like popping open a bottle of champagne only to find out it's actually a can of White Claw. From the opening track, "Champagne Supernova," you're hit with a wave of pretentiousness that's almost suffocating. But just when you think you can't take it anymore, they switch gears with "Lager Than Life," a catchy pop-rock anthem that's as infectious as a cold in winter. Lead singer, Chardonnay Jones, has a voice that can only be described as a cross between Mariah Carey and a strangled cat. But somehow, it works. Her emotive delivery adds a layer of depth to the album that you wouldn't expect from a band called WHITE WINE. The production on Killer Brilliance is top-notch, with each track sounding crisp and clean. The use of synths and electronic beats gives the album a modern edge that sets it apart from other indie releases this year. Overall, Killer Brilliance is a wild ride that's equal parts genius and insanity. It may not be for everyone, but if you're willing to embrace the madness, you'll find yourself bopping along to tracks like "Rosé All Day" and "Sauvignon Blanc and Boujee."
